Have you heard the news? PaperFlops is a nascent line of flip-flops made from recycled newspapers and other sustainable materials. Currently seeking funding through Ulule, a European version of Kickstarter, PaperFlops seeks to create jobs for the underprivileged and disabled in Yogjakarta, Indonesia. Made from two pounds of newspaper, old palm-tree root, coconut shells, and natural rubber, each pair of flip-flops not only wins points for repurposing waste, but it also scores high on style, too. Don’t worry about your footwear turning to pulp after the first wear; durability and water-resistance are ensured by a thin layer of natural rubber sealant.
